shootz35mm ::: Favorites Which reminds me, I woke to my wife telling me about a petition to "free the 8" with Riki Rachtman at the center. He is supposed to present The Vicotry Junction Gang with a check from the t-shirt proceeds. Neat. 07-07-07 14:11:00 __________________________________________________
shootz35mm ::: Favorites I think perhaps the most tense of all racing formats. Somewhat like putting everyone in the spin cycle of a giant laundry and trying to see who can beat the centrifical forces with odds stacked pretty high and some intense rules. I hope you get to Enjoy the Firecracker 400!! It's gonna be a good one. Take care . 07-07-07 14:06:24 __________________________________________________
shootz35mm ::: Favorites And competition is always best with more cars on the lead lap. Though I do also know there are times it only adds distraction or hazard, but you wont find a double file restart within the last 10 laps. It's unique and I hope sometime you get to come watch a speedway oval race here. It speaks for itself and in someway the differences work themselves out. It really is a high tension racing format. 07-07-07 14:02:45 __________________________________________________
shootz35mm ::: Favorites I don't quite know how or what to say to explain it, but it is often the rules and guy on the inside that prompt a lot of jumpers here. By jumpers I mean the fan that is jumping out of his seat. As for the lap down traffic restarting on the inside, it has paid off in the past when somebody checks up or misses a shift. Of course this puts a few cars back on the lead lap which is always great for competition. 07-07-07 13:59:03 __________________________________________________
shootz35mm ::: Favorites Hi Leo ! Great to read this from your perspective. I would have to agree to some points while perhaps seeing the validity of others. And that's a good thing because now people all over are wondering about Nascar. It is a small movement in some places but it is movement. I have to tell ya, the rules and infractions in Nascar play a BIG part in the fan - drama. 07-07-07 13:56:24 __________________________________________________
shootz35mm ::: Favorites I agree , I think he will leave DEI, but I'm not sure it will be to Hendricks. There seem to be so many new financial foundations pooping up that weren't there before. Sadly they aren't any part of the regular 1 and 2 car teams. I dunno though. We shall see, it wouldn't shock me either if he went to HMS. 07-07-07 13:50:32 __________________________________________________
bleak351 ::: Favorites But despite all this, NASCAR is starting to get a small following. It's occasionally mentioned in the sports report on the 6 o'clock news. Still not enough to get it on Free-to-air TV and compete with F1, Moto GP and WRC (and definetly not V8 Supercars), but people are starting to notice. Cheers, Leo 07-07-07 08:11:27 __________________________________________________
bleak351 ::: Favorites Same with the Champs Provisional. Pointless. I agree that there needs to be some kind of rule, but when compared to other forms of racing, the NASCAR qualifying system is poor IMO (but like I said, 50 into 43 needs something). 07-07-07 08:10:40 __________________________________________________
bleak351 ::: Favorites Another is the top-35 owners points. While I've got it figured out, my Dad has no clue. I know that a system is needed when you have 50 cars and 43 grid spots, but it's over the top at times. Take todays Pepsi 400 qualifying, for example. 3 of the 7 fastest guys 9at the time) get sent home when it's rained out. 07-07-07 08:10:11 __________________________________________________
bleak351 ::: Favorites It's all the little, useless rules that aren't needed that have the biggest effect. First off, lap cars lining up on the inside. Why? It just makes it more confusing and makes it harder for the front running cars. The Lucky Dog rule is fine for getting cars back on the lead lap, but I think that 2-wide restarts aren't needed. 07-07-07 08:09:21 __________________________________________________ |
