Description: In the Streets of London Reducing life to... simple formulas Is impossible, you see it's infinitely nuanced It's like a letter written backwards... Running through my head A crazy world that wants to be born But you know, her soul is beautiful In the streets of London I used more light than I needed to see God has plans for her And the streets of London will blow on the mysteries of another time... Virginia I put my life off to An abandoned later time Simply to live Try to reach a humanity Scraps of earth Watched me disappear And among the stones I lived and I hoped, you know But you know, her soul is beautiful In the streets of London I used more light than I needed to see God has plans for her And the streets of London will blow on the mysteries of another time... Virginia Meaning: After Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Poe and other authors, Mylène draws inspiration from the British writer Virginia Woolf. Woolf was born and raised in London, and sexual abuse and psychosis were part of her personal life while her literature focused on dark themes. At the end of her life, she said she was going mad ("Running through my head / A crazy world that wants to be born"), and she committed suicide by filling her pockets with stones and drowning herself in the river ("Scraps of earth / Watched me disappear / And among the stones..."). Those who have actually studied Woolf or read her literature will probably find even more meaning in the lyrics. (Source M.F.International) |
